A senior English class meets in Loretto Hall. This class, and all the others on campus, will take final exams in December.

Just like many other aspects of this year, the schedule for this semester’s finals has been changed from what has been taken place during previous school years.

With the first semester reaching its end, finals are looming. All of the studying, coupled with the 18 weeks of class, make finals week the final challenge students face before taking time off for winter break. The schedule for finals has changed. Academic operations manager Mrs. Shannon Braun said, “(The schedule change) gives the students more time for each class and also doesn’t overwhelm them right before finals.”

Finals week begins with review days on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 and a block schedule of four classes each of those two days. Braun said, “It is easier on students to take two days to review because oftentimes it is overwhelming to try to fit it all in on one day.”

On Dec. 15, students will have finals in their Alpha, A and B classes with a break for lunch between the second and third exams. The next day also has three finals that day with C, D and E. On the last day of the semester, Dec. 17, students will have F and G finals and will be dismissed at 12:15. Classes will start at 9 a.m and will end at 2:10 pm on days that there are three tests.

The schedule is set up to benefit students and teachers alike. With more time to review before each class, students have the chance to be better prepared. Braun said, “The schedule gives the students more time for each class and also doesn’t overwhelm them right before finals.”
