The next Books and Bagels Club meeting will be held in the library on Oct. 29 at 8 a.m.

Once a month a group of students gathers in the library for Books and Bagels Club to relish good reads and good eats.

Library director Mrs. Jennifer Herron serves as the club’s moderator. She said, “Books and Bagels Club is a long-established club that is a casual meeting of book lovers and bagel lovers that meets before school to just enjoy bagels and talking about good books.”

During each meeting, the group discusses their book of the month. Herron said, “Currently we are reading Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankel. It is about Mr. Frankel’s experience in Nazi death camps. He was a psychiatrist who survived the Holocaust and wrote this book about his experiences and about spiritual survival.”

Although the current members have a specific book that they are all encouraged to read before the monthly meeting, Herron said the club always welcomes new members. “Anybody can come anytime,” Herron said.

Herron added that the people are what make the meetings fun. She said the aspects of the club that she enjoys the most are “meeting students and listening to their conversations about books and their subject matter.”

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Books and Bagels Club had been limited in the past two years. Herron said, “I’m so happy that we are Books and Bagels because during Covid quarantine, we made it Books and Bytes. It was virtual. So we’re happy to be face-to-face again with real bagels.”

The next Books and Bagels meeting will be in the library on Oct. 29 at 8 a.m.

Herron said, “Come and enjoy a bagel. You don’t have to have read the book. You can find some great recommendations for reading.”
