Irish draw Terre Haute North in football Sectional
Second-ranked Decatur Central is in opposite bracket
As playoff football will soon be upon us, the Irish draw their first game in the Sectional against Terre Haute North. This will be a home game for the Irish, but they don’t get the bye.
Head Coach Mr. Bill Peebles ‘88 shares his reaction to this year’s Sectional draw. Peebles said over the phone, “It’s always nice to have the week off, but we don’t have that this year. At least we have the first game at home, and if we win, we will play Plainfield at home the next week.”
Class 5A Sectional 13 is arguably the toughest sectional in 5A, with the Irish ranked at Number 1 in the class, and Decatur Central ranked second and on the other side of the bracket. The teams would most likely play each other in the Sectional championship game if the two continue to win. Peebles said, “We have the toughest draw but it could’ve been worse. We would most likely be at Decatur Central for the championship this year.”
The Irish are set to host Terre Haute North on Oct. 22.
