Fall sports update: Men’s soccer

The men’s soccer team defeated Guerin Catholic 4-0 on Senior Night.

Highlights: The men’s soccer team head into the second half of its season with a 7-2-1 record as of Sept. 16. They are nearing a Top 20 state ranking. Individually, the Irish are led by junior Josh Wesseling, who leads the team in goals, and senior Chris Kiki. Other key contributors include seniors Trey Heyward, Alex Russell and Luke Hern. A recent highlight is the team’s victory over Number-1 ranked Guerin Catholic 4-0 on Senior Night.

Upcoming: Key upcoming games include a visit to Carmel’s Brian Murray Statdium on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. 

Team goals: According to Head Coach Mr. Joel Russell, “With only Roncalli remaining on Sept. 21, the Irish are 5-0 versus our ‘Catholic league’ opponents of Cardinal Ritter, Bishop Chatard, Covenant Christian, Brebeuf (Jesuit) and Guerin (Catholic), scoring 27 and giving up 0.” The team’s goals include finishing the season with wins against HSE, Roncalli and Carmel.
