Butler Biscuits capture intramural basketball title
Team’s second straight win is dedicated to Mario McCullough
The Butler Biscuits won the intramural basketball championship, defeating the Mario Bros in the game played during the activity period on April 7 in the Welch Activity Center.
The all-senior team included Nathan McCahill, Barrett Browne, John Paul Koscielski, Jameson Browne, Aidan Broderick, Leo Tuttle and Fischer Hammann. The head coach of the team was senior David Guhl. Barrett Browne, aka Beezy, said, “They are all of my close buds. I have a great time playing basketball with them.”
The Butler Biscuits had a relatively easy win over the Mario Bros, with the final score of 44-39. “No other intramural team can compete with us. We’re just like that,” Browne said. By securing this victory, the team is now back-to-back champions. The team dedicated this win to Mario McCullough. “For Rio. Two times because we are back to back. 2x for 2x,” Browne said.
Browne nominated Coach Guhl as MVP for his leadership skills on the sidelines. Browne said, “He made great play calls, great timeouts when we needed it, and great substitutions.” Koscielski led the team to victory with 16 points, including four three pointers. Although the Mario Bros played hard, the Butler Biscuits were too tough to beat. This team finishes their senior year as intramural champions.
