Focus on health, safety shifts to winter sports
Extra cleaning, limits on numbers of fans are in place
Since the football team’s Class 5A State championship win against Zionsville and the successful conclusion of fall sports, it is now time to winter teams to compete and to do so in safe conditions.
Athletics Director Mr. Rick Streiff wrote in an email, “We work with each sport individually to keep them all playing.” He has confirmed that, despite the lack of on campus instruction, at this point, barring new edicts from the Marion County Health Department, athletics will continue.
Streiff described the safety procedures still being observed to keep athletes and coaches safe. He said, “All equipment is sprayed after each practice, players do not use (the) locker room or do so in shifts so as to not have too many in at once. All athletes take home laundry every day and social distance at practice as best as possible and wear masks when not in physical activity.”
The number of fans allowed at to attend home events also has been reduced considerably in order to adhere to local Covid-19 guidelines.
