Although school Masses will look different this year, they are still going to take place. 

Assistant campus minister Mrs. Sara Bozzelli-Levine said, “Our first school Mass will be on Sept. 11. We are still working out the details.” Bozzelli-Levine added that communion will be served, but there will be a meeting to discuss how the administration will be able to accommodate for all of the Covid-19 restrictions. 

While logistics are being addressed for the first school Mass, morning Masses in the chapel are still offered. Bozzelli-Levine said the Masses are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 a.m. Bozzelli-Levine said, “Moving the start time for the Mass earlier allows students and teachers more time to prepare for class with all of the Covid-19 cleaning and sanitizing.” 

Covid-19 has also caused the morning Masses to be limited to a capacity of 28. Bozzelli-Levine said, “This is because the chapel is relatively small and we need to keep a safe distance.” She said there is no need to reserve a spot for the morning Masses because it is first come, first serve. Bozzelli-Levine added, “On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m. there are prayer services. They are usually led by Mr. (Mark) Matthews or Mr. (Matt) Cannaday. There may also be opportunities for students to lead those in the future.”

Bozzelli-Levine emphasized the importance of students taking part in campus ministry, saying, “I invite all students to be part of the liturgy committee. Everyone’s invited and you don’t have to be Catholic. All are welcome. Masses are really important because we come together as a community.”
