Vice Principal Mr. Mark Matthews explained the rationale for all classes meeting on Oct. 14.

The Senior Class faculty moderators have announced that Mr. Mark Matthews, social studies teacher and interim vice principal for academics, has been selected by the members of the Class of 2020 as this year’s faculty speaker at graduation.

Contacted by email on April 20, Matthews wrote about his selection, “In what is arguably the most unique and strangest end of school I’ve ever experienced, it is an honor to be selected as the Commencement speaker for the Class of 2020. I have been so impressed by this group of seniors over the past several years they’ve been together on the Hill, and I’m even more impressed by their willingness to adapt, keep working hard through the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to build a lasting legacy for future Irish students.

“I’m looking forward to late July when we can all be together to celebrate the unique contributions our 100th graduating class has made to Cathedral.”

Gradation ceremonies, originally scheduled for May 17, have been rescheduled for July 26 at the Old National Centre in Downtown Indianapolis.
