Friends and family members arrive at the Old National Centre for last year’s graduation ceremonies.

Traditional year-end ceremonies that will not take place in May for the Class of 2020 have been tentatively rescheduled for July, according to Senior Class co-moderator Mrs. Katie Lewis.

Baccalaureate Mass is scheduled for July 25 in the Welch Activity Center, with graduation ceremonies on July 26 at 1 p.m. at the Old National Centre in Downtown Indianapolis.

Lewis said she is hopeful these two events will occur in the traditional form that they have in the past, with parents, family members and friends attending and graduates wearing their caps and gowns. Staff at the Old National Centre provided potential dates for the ceremony, and Lewis said that while there were several options, July 26 seemed to be the best date. Lewis wrote in an email, “We felt the longer we waited, the more likely it would be to happen.”

She also noted that students will get their caps and gowns later this month.

Seniors will be able to come onto campus on specific dates in May to take photos. They will schedule their campus visit using Sign Up Genius. Lewis said, “There will be no more than two students and their family that lives in their house on campus per half hour. (Administrators) and others will help make sure people are practicing social distancing. We are doing this because campus will be under construction starting at the end of May and we want to ensure the students are able to get some of those iconic photos.”
