Junior Max Beatty is carried into the Welch Activity Center on May 17 during the Irish 500, resplendent in his leprechaun gear.

Junior Max Beatty will serve as the leprechaun during the 2019-2020 school year. As is tradition, he was introduced to the student body during the Irish 500, which took place May 17 in the Welch Activity Center. During his comments, he challenged students to become involved in their school and to support their teams, with special encouragement to the Class of 2020, next year’s seniors.

Beatty said, “It felt surreal being named leprechaun. I am so lucky to be a part of Cathedral’s rich history. This school means so much to me and I cannot wait to be this involved in something much greater than me,” he wrote in an email.

The rising senior said he looks forward providing spirit. “I plan on leading the school in a fun, respectful and encouraging way. This position requires hard commitment and I am excited and ready give it my 100 percent,” he said.

Beatty said, “The leprechaun means the world to me because I get an opportunity to represent my school, family and myself. I intend to represent myself with class and character in a respectful manner.”
