After a two-year hiatus, the Model UN club is looking to start up again.

Model UN consists of a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, with students role playing delegates.

Sr. Mary Ann Stewart, who serves as the Model UN moderator, said, “The current plan is for an upcoming event on the IUPUI campus on March 17 and March 18.”

Although this event takes place several months into the future, there will be meetings throughout the coming weeks to prepare for the conference. Sr. Stewart said, “So far there are 15 schools, including Cathedral, who are interested in participating.”

Covid-19 has affected this event as well. Sr. Stewart said, “It has to be approved by the university event review committee (at) IU Bloomington. They will have a series of separate simultaneous meetings with no more than 50 people per meeting. So they’ve got a plan to work it out if they can’t have everybody in the same spot.”

Sr. Stewart said she is looking forward to beginning a new chapter of the club. However, the club cannot restart without participation from its members. Anyone who is interested in joining Model UN should contact Sr. Stewart at [email protected] for more information about upcoming meetings.

Sr. Stewart said, “We’re always looking for new participants.”
