During the first week of February, the school’s admissions/enrollment office sent golden letters to members of the incoming Freshman Class, confirming their admission for the 2021-2022 school year. 

For the past couple of years, every admitted freshman has been sent a golden envelope. School President Dr. Robert Bridges, said, “We like to think of ourselves as the top high school, and gold is seen as something to mark special occasions. We’ve tried other things to make it special, but we’ve only (used the gold mailers) for the past couple of years.”

This year, around 375 letters were sent to current eighth graders.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed several school traditions, including the admissions process, for the Class of 2025. For example, the number of available shadow visits has decreased. Most schools aren’t even allowing students to tour their campuses, but shadow days still are taking place on the Hill 

The admissions/enrollment office is offering one-on-one tours to show off the campus in order to follow social distancing guidelines. Tours are still being held and formation about them and shadow days can be found on the school website. 

Bridges said, “Every year we get reinvented as a whole new group of kids comes in. Certainly this school year has been different, but kids are still having a good experience. We’re still doing a lot of good things, and we’re hopeful it’s going to get even better.”
